7- UP PIE CRUST DIPPERS
Use your favorite pie crust recipe and use 7-UP in place of the liquid. It's that simple. For a change of taste to the dipper use a different flavor of soda pop. Oh this is a great recipe for pies too! Imagine the possibilities!!!

Steps:
- 1. Stir together flour and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Do not over work pastry.
- 2. Add the ice cold soda pop gradually to the flour mixture, then blend together until moist. Place pastry in plastic wrap, flatten slightly. Chill 30 minutes.
- 3. Remove from fridge and roll out like making pie crust on a flour dusted surface or between 2 pieces of waxed paper (i do it this way) to about 1/8 inch thickness. Using your favorite small cookie cutter or just cut into circles or strips 4 x 1 inch.
- 4. Place on parchment covered cookie sheet brush with melted butter and sprinkle with granulated sugar and bake for bout 5 minutes or until golden. Cool completely before using so that they are crisp. These work great for appetizers too!
PIE CRUST
Some people shy away from making pie crusts. Here is a recipe to banish all fear, a simple dough of butter and all-purpose flour, easy to make and dependable as can be. If you plan to make a pie with a top crust, double the recipe; when it's time to chill the dough, divide it in half and shape into two disks to put in the fridge. The dough will also keep for 3 months in the freezer, if you want to stash a few disks there. Defrost in the fridge overnight.

Steps:
- In a food processor, pulse together the flour and salt. Add butter and pulse until the mixture forms lima bean-size pieces. Slowly add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and pulse until the dough just comes together. It should be moist, but not wet.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gather into a ball. Flatten into a disk with the heel of your hand. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 2 days.
LUCIE'S 7-UP PIE CRUST (IDIOT PROOF PASTRY RECIPE)
This is a really simple, never fails, like and flaky pastry crust. Not too sweet, perfect for meat pie or lemon marangue pie (where you don't want a sweet pastry to overpower your marangue). (enough for 2 1/2 complete pies)

7-UP PIE CRUST
This is a recipe I tweaked from cdkitchen.com. It originally called for lard, but I don't care for it, so I subbed half butter, half shortening. I made this for a Colonial Apple Pie, and it was delicious! The 7-Up sounds strange, but you don't taste it at all. It just makes the crust flakey.

Steps:
- Dice the butter and return it to the refrigerator while you prepare the flour mixture. Place the flour, salt, and sugar in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a steel blade and pulse a few times to mix. Add the butter and shortening. Pulse 8 to 12 times, until the butter is the size of peas. With the machine running, pour the ice water down the feed tube and pulse the machine until the dough begins to form a ball. Dump out on a floured board and roll into a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Cut the dough in half. Roll each piece on a well-floured board into a circle, rolling from the center to the edge, turning and flouring the dough to make sure it doesn't stick to the board. Fold the dough in half, place in a pie pan, and unfold to fit the pan. Repeat with the top crust.
