APPLE- CINNAMON GRANOLA BREAD

When it comes to breakfast breads, this fine-textured whole wheat loaf made with granola and applesauce is heard to beat. For a special wake-up treat, spread it with fruit-flavored soft-style cream cheese. Makes 1 1/2 pound loaf. Recipe comes from Fleischmann's yeast.

Apple- Cinnamon Granola Bread image

Steps:

  • Add all ingredients to bread machine pan in the order sussested by Manufacturer, adding applesauce with water, and granola with flours.
  • (if dough is too dry or stiff or too soft or slack, adjust dough consistency, by adding 3 to 4 teaspoons water or flour).
  • Recommened cycle, whole wheat, light or medium color setting.

2 teaspoons active dry yeast

This is a good bread recipe for a bread machine. I obtained and tasted this bread when I took a nutrition class. Directions are for a 1-1/2 lb. loaf. Serve with honey butter!

  • Select Whole Wheat or Basic/White cycle. Use medium or light crust color.

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the oats, oat bran, and almonds; set aside. In a small saucepan, combine the concentrate, oil and honey. Cook and stir over medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until heated through. Remove from the heat; stir in the cereal, apples, wheat germ, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour over oat mixture and toss to coat., Transfer to two greased 15x10x1-in. baking pans. Bake at 300° for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool on wire racks. Stir in raisins. Store in an airtight container.
