Steps:

  • Puree the bananas, sugar, milk, and extract together in a blender until smooth. Pour the mixture evenly among 4 to 6 molds and freeze until solid.
  • Unmold by first running a little cold water over outside of molds, then gently pulling the sticks.

2 medium bananas, about 3/4 cup
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Special equipment: Plastic ice pop mold or use paper cups with wooden sticks inserted.

Bob's Bananas in Guinness Cream image

Steps:

  • Place whole bananas in a hot skillet. Pour stout over the bananas and boil for 2 to 3 minutes, flipping the bananas over often. Cover bananas with brown sugar and let the sugar melt. Pour cream over bananas and let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Serve with ice cream and chocolate sauce, if desired.

4 medium bananas, peeled
2 to 3 cups Irish stout
1/2 to 3/4 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups cream
Serving suggestion: ice cream and chocolate sauce

Found this on line by Ken Pappenheim This came in First prize in the dessert category in the 2000 Guinness Cook-off at his local Pub. And for all of you that know me I did tweak it just a bit. Top it with this Recipe #86695 if your want to really bring it up a notch! Heart Optional: You can replace 1/2 cup of flour with Irish steel cut oats. I just spun them in the food processor with the sifted ingredients. Better for your heart!

Guinness Banana Nut Bread image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease two 9 x 5-inch loaf pans.
  • In a large bowl cream the brown sugar, banana, eggs, vanilla and oil; set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, allspice, cardamom and cloves.
  • Alternately blend the flour mixture and the beer into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the walnuts, raisins, chocolate chips, and ginger to the mixture and blend well.
  • Pour into the prepared pans.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in cake comes out clean.
  • Leave in pan for 15 minutes to cool before turning out to cool completely on rack. Plate and dust with sugar.
