CHICKEN PARMESAN CRESCENTS RECIPE

Chicken Parmesan is a little too time consuming when I am trying to juggle two kids under the age of three while trying to cook. This recipe is so simple and even my picky three year old devoured it!

Steps:

  • Cook chicken strips according to package directions. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Separate crescent rolls into 8 triangles. Place one slice of cheese on the wide end of each crescent roll.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, warm spaghetti sauce until heated through. Dip cooked chicken strips in spaghetti sauce so they are completely covered. Place dipped chicken strips on top of cheese and roll up crescent rolls. Place rolls on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush melted butter on top of each roll and sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

8 ounces refrigerated crescent roll dough (1 can)
8 slices mozzarella cheese
24 ounces spaghetti sauce (1 jar)
1 Tablespoon butter (melted)
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 Tablespoon grated parmesan cheese

  • Heat oven to 375°F. Spray large cookie sheet with cooking spray. In medium bowl, mix mozzarella cheese, chicken, 1/2 cup of the pasta sauce and 1/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese; mix well.
  • If using dough sheet, unroll dough, and place on cookie sheet to form 13x7-inch rectangle. If using crescent rolls, unroll dough and place on cookie sheet, pressing to form 13x7-inch rectangle and firmly pressing perforations to seal.
  • Spread chicken mixture in 3 1/2-inch-wide strip lengthwise down center of dough all the way to ends. Make cuts 1 inch apart on each side of rectangle just to edge of filling. Alternating from side to side, fold cut strips of dough at an angle halfway across filling, slightly overlapping ends.
  • In small microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High 20 to 30 seconds or until melted. Stir in Italian seasoning and garlic powder; brush mixture on top of braided crescent dough. Sprinkle with remaining 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese.

  • Spread 1 cup pasta sauce in bottom of pan. Place rolled crescents over sauce in single layer. Sprinkle tops of crescents evenly with 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz). Top cheese with a sprinkling of dried parsley, if desired.

In 10-inch nonstick skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter over medium-high heat; cook chicken in butter 8 to 10 minutes or until chicken is well browned on all sides. Remove from skillet; cool slightly.
  • Cut mozzarella cheese into 8 pieces; cut small slits in side of each chicken tenderloin, and insert piece of mozzarella cheese. Unroll dough; separate into 8 triangles. Place piece of chicken on wide end of triangle; roll dough around chicken, and place on cookie sheet. Repeat for remaining dough and chicken.
  • In small microwavable cup, microwave remaining 1 tablespoon butter uncovered on High 15 to 30 seconds or until melted. Brush crescents with melted butter; top each with about 1 teaspoon Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake 14 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. In microwavable measuring cup, heat marinara sauce covered on Medium-High (70%) 1 to 2 minutes or until heated through. Serve chicken with heated marinara sauce.
