Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, cream together margarine and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture until just blended. Mix in walnuts. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool for a couple of minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

CHOCOLATE CHOKERS
This is my favorite chocolate cookie recipe! My great grandmother used to call these brownie drops, but my father renamed them "chocolate chokers" after he inhaled immediately before eating one, and started coughing. I recommend leaving them in the refrigerator over night before baking; however my great grandmother would just cover them and set them outside for a few hours in winter time (that might only work in the mid-west though). This is my most requested cookie from my friends and co-workers.

Steps:
- 1. In small bowl mix together flour and baking powder and salt.
- 2. In large bowl, mix together butter and chocolate until smooth. Add sugar and mix again until smooth.
- 3. One at a time, add eggs to chocolate/sugar mixture, mixing till smooth between each egg addition. Add vanilla and mix again until smooth.
- 4. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture in large bowl, mix well. Cover and chill completely.
- 5. Roll in small balls approximately 1 teaspoon size, and roll in powdered sugar. Bake in a preheated oven set to 375 degrees for 9 to 10 minutes,.

- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar on medium high speed until light and creamy, about 4 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each. Add the vanilla. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to the mixer and mix until just combined.
- Bake until edges are crisp, about 9 minutes. Immediately sprinkle with coarse sugar or salt. Let cool on the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
