CLAM APPETIZER DIP

Kicked up with Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and lemon juice, this creamy Clam Appetizer Dip is just as good as your childhood memories of it.

Steps:

  • Drain clams, reserving 1/4 cup of the liquid.
  • Mix clams, reserved liquid and remaining ingredients until well blended; cover. Refrigerate several hours or until chilled.
  • Serve with cut-up vegetable dippers or potato chips.

The Kraft Foods recipe, that when originally shown as a televised commercial caused a canned Clam shortage. Taken from 1963 Kraft Treasury of Good Food Ideas Cookbook Great dip for your retro themed cocktail parties, or New Years Eve. Serve with potato chips or corn chips. I like to use 2 cans of Clams when making this recipe. Prep time does not allow for bringing Cream Cheese to room temp to soften.

Steps:

  • Rub mixing bowl with garlic.
  • Combine softened Cream Cheese with minced Clams, broth, Lemon juice, Worcestershire Sauce and seasonings. mixing until well blended.
  • If a thinner dip is desired, add more Clam broth. Refrigerate until serving time.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Stir together cream cheese and sour cream in a medium bowl until smooth. Stir in clams and liquid, Worcestershire, shallot, cayenne, and 1/4 teaspoon salt until combined. Transfer mixture to a 2 1/2-to-3-cup baking dish.
  • Bake until bubbly and top is golden brown in spots, about 30 minutes. Serve warm, sprinkled with cayenne, with potato chips.

2 cans (6.5 ounces each) whole clams, such as Bar Harbor Premium, drained and coarsely chopped, 3 tablespoons liquid reserved
