To prepare the filling, combine the apple slices with the lemon juice and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a separate bowl and then add the mixture in with the apples; stir until combined. Spoon the apples into the prepared dish. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and apples are fork tender.

To prepare the filling, peel and core apples, cut into 1/4 inch thick slices. Place the slices into a bowl with the lemon juice and vanilla and toss. In a small bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon & nutmeg, add to the apples and stir until fully coated. Place the apple mixture into a 13 x 9 pan. Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apples. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).
- Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all.
- Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
- Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 45 minutes.
