CHOCOLATE CHUNK BLONDIES

Chocolate Chunk Blondies image

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour an 8 x 12 x 2 inch baking pan.
  • In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar on high speed for 3 minutes, until light and fluffy. With the mixer on low, add the vanilla, then the eggs, one at a time, and mix well, scraping down the bowl. In a small bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and salt and with the mixer still on low, slowly add flour mixture to the butter mixture. Fold the walnuts and chocolate chunks in with a rubber spatula.
  • Spread the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30 minutes exactly. Don't overbake! A toothpick may not come out clean. Cool completely in the pan and cut into bars.

1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
2 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Line 13x9-inch pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides. Mix flour and baking powder until blended. Beat butter and sugars in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture until blended. Add chocolates; mix well.
  • Spread onto bottom of prepared pan.
  • Bake 25 to 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudgy crumbs. (Do not overbake.) Cool completely. Use foil handles to lift blondies from pan before cutting into bars.

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease or spray bottom only of 13x9-inch pan. In large bowl, mix cake mix, butter, water and eggs with spoon. Stir in chocolate chunks. Spread evenly in pan.
  • Bake 21 to 26 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • In small microwavable bowl, microwave frosting uncovered on High 20 to 25 seconds or until melted; stir. Drizzle over bars. Let stand about 30 minutes or until frosting is set.
