FLAX MEAL PEANUT BUTTER CEREAL
I found this recipe at http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/breakfast1/r/flaxpdcereal.htm. It's delicious plain or with maple syrup. Very simple to make for a quick nutritious morning meal! Edited to add: After having this as my breakfast for a few days, I've noticed that I get hungry less throughout the day AND my snack cravings have decreased substantially. I'm not ready to call it any kind of diet miracle, but at least in the short term it appears that it may help my dieting efforts considerably. I'm going to try replacing the peanut butter with other types of flavorings and will note those as I go along. EDITED AGAIN: A little research confirms that flax in any form is a natural appetite suppressant. Yay!! I've tried this with only 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and enjoy it just as much, and with fewer calories and fat.

NO-BAKE ENERGY BITES
This is a healthy take on the traditional no bake cookies. So good and good for you! I am always asked for this recipe every time I make them. They are a hit with the kids and the adults, and always go quick! I store them in the freezer because I think they taste best frozen, but not necessary.

- Using a stand or hand mixer, mix peanut butter, brown sugar, and oil until smooth. Stir in egg, then mix in baking soda, flaxseed meal, oats, and whole wheat flour. Stir in chocolate chips (optional but yummy).
- Using a 2 tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop uniform size balls of dough onto your cookie sheet. They won’t spread, so they can be semi-close together. Press down slightly with the tines of a fork.
- Bake for about 9-11 minutes, until the bottoms start to get golden. Do not remove from cookie sheet until they are cooled. These are very fragile until they have time to set. They’ll still be more crumbly than a normal cookie, but will stay together once cool.

- Line an 8x8- or 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two sides like handles.
- Place the peanut butter, honey, and coconut oil in a medium heatproof bowl. Set the bowl over a saucepan of water and bring the water to a simmer over medium to medium-high heat. (Do not let the water boil, and make sure the water does not touch the bottom of the mixing bowl.) Stir and heat until the mixture is smoothly combined. Remove the bowl from the saucepan and turn off the heat.
- To the bowl with the peanut butter mixture, add the oats, protein powder, flaxseed, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to combine. The mixture will seem very dry at first but will come together as you stir. It won’t be sticky but should hold together when pressed (see recipe notes for more details). If the mixture is still fairly warm, pop the bowl into the refrigerator for a few minutes to let it cool, then stir in the chocolate chips. (Cooling the mixture will prevent the chocolate from melting. Don’t worry if they do melt a little—the bars will still be delicious!) Press evenly into the prepared pan and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.
- Lift the bars from the pan using the parchment handles and transfer to a cutting board. Slice into bars of desired size and enjoy.
