Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Place 2 tablespoons of the melted butter into a 10-inch cast iron skillet and place in the oven. Set the remaining tablespoon of melted butter aside to cool slightly. Wait 10 minutes before assembling the other ingredients.
  • Place the flour, vanilla sugar, salt, milk, eggs and remaining tablespoon of melted butter into the bowl of a food processor or blender and process for 30 seconds. Carefully pour the batter into the preheated skillet. Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until the edges are puffed and brown. Sprinkle with additional vanilla sugar and serve with lemon wedges.

3 tablespoons butter, melted and divided
2 3/8 ounces all-purpose flour, approximately 1/2 cup
3 tablespoons vanilla sugar, plus extra for serving
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup whole milk, room temperature
2 large eggs, room temperature

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Place the butter in a large saute pan and place in the oven to melt.
  • Meanwhile, in a blender, combine the eggs, flour, hot milk, 1 tablespoon sugar, vanilla extract, and pinch of salt, and blend on medium-high speed until uniform. Cook's Note: If mixing by hand, combine the eggs with the milk until the mixture is light yellow and no longer stringy, about 1 minute. Add the flour, sugar, vanilla, and pinch of salt, and whisk vigorously to remove the lumps, about 30 seconds.
  • Carefully, remove the hot pan from the oven. The butter should be melted. Swirl the butter around the pan to coat completely, and then pour the remaining butter into the batter and whisk to blend. Pour the batter into the hot pan and return the pan to the oven. Cook the pancake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pancake is puffed in the center, and golden brown along the edges.
  • While the Dutch baby bakes, in a small bowl combine the fresh blueberries, 1 teaspoon sugar, and lemon zest. Stir to coat, and set aside to marinate.
  • Using a spatula, remove the entire Dutch baby from the pan and place on a cooling rack for a few minutes to allow the steam to escape without condensing along the bottom and rendering the pancake soggy. Slice the pancake into wedges on a serving platter or cutting board and sprinkle with the confectioners' sugar through a sieve. Serve with the marinated blueberries.

3 tablespoons butter
3 eggs
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup milk, heated 20 to 30 seconds in the microwave
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Pinch salt
1 pint fresh or frozen blueberries
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Cut up butter into small pieces, and place in cast iron Dutch oven or skillet without the lid on. Place Dutch oven in hot oven. Prepare batter in a blender by placing eggs in and blending until foamy. Add milk, flour, salt and vanilla and blend until combined. When butter has fully melted in skillet, carefully remove hot Dutch oven from oven and swirl butter to coat pan. Quickly pour batter in skillet and place back in hot oven. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until puffed and lightly browned. Remove from oven and cut into wedges and place on serving plates. Cut tablespoon pats of butter, and place a pat on each serving. Cut lemon in half, and squeeze juice over wedges and sprinkle liberally with powdered sugar. Serve immediately. Yield: 4 servings
  • Hints for success: Make sure oven is preheated to correct temperature. Be very careful when taking the Dutch Oven out of the oven, it is very hot and you could burn yourself. When you squeeze lemons over the wedges of Dutch Baby, strain though a sieve to catch any seeds and pulp

4 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Butter
1 lemon
Powdered sugar

Roasted Rosemary Garlic Loaf Recipe by Tasty image

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Remove the top of each garlic bulb so just the tops of the cloves are exposed. Set the tops aside. Drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil over top of each bulb, letting the oil seep down between the cloves. Season each bulb with ¼ teaspoon of salt. Place the tops back on each bulb and set in a shallow baking dish.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cloves are completely tender, but not mushy. Since the garlic will continue cooking in the bread, you want them a little more firm so they hold their shape in the loaf.
  • Let the garlic to cool until safe to handle. Gentle press on the bottom of each clove to pop it out of its skin. Roughly chop the garlic cloves and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the bread flour, whole wheat flour, chopped garlic, rosemary, and the remaining 2 teaspoons of salt. Stir well with a rubber spatula.
  • In a separate large bowl, combine the warm water, remaining ¼ cup (60 ml) olive oil, and the yeast.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and use a rubber spatula to stir until the dough just comes together. With your hands, knead the dough in the bowl until there are no dry, floury spots remaining. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rest in a warm place for 60 minutes, or until almost doubled in size.
  • Using the spatula, fold the dough toward the center again 8 more times, rotating the bowl each time. Cover with the towel and let rest for 30 minutes more.
  • Place a Dutch oven with a lid in the oven, and preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) for 30 minutes.
  • Lightly dust a clean surface and your hands with flour. Carefully turn the dough out of the bowl onto the floured surface. Fold the edges of the dough towards the center 8 times, then flip the dough over and transfer to a piece of parchment paper.
  • Carefully remove the Dutch oven from the oven (it will be very hot) and use the parchment to lift the bread into the pot. Cover with the lid.
  • Bake the bread for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and reduce the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C). Bake for 20 more minutes, until the bread is golden brown.
  • Carefully slide the bread out of the pot and onto a wire rack. Remove the parchment paper and let the bread cool for at least 1 hour before slicing.
  • Slice the bread and serve as desired.
  • Enjoy!

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and set an oven rack in the middle position. Put a 10-inch cast iron skillet or oven-safe nonstick pan into the oven and heat for at least 5 minutes.
  • In a blender, combine the eggs, flour, milk, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, the salt, and vanilla. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides of the blender jar as necessary, about 30 seconds.
  • Open the oven door and drop the butter into the preheated skillet. Close the oven and allow the butter to melt, about 2 minutes (do not let it burn). Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and place an oven mitt or dishtowel over the handle to remind yourself that it's hot. Pour the batter into the buttered skillet and carefully place the skillet back into the oven. Bake for about 20 minutes, until puffed and golden. Carefully remove the skillet from the oven (again, place an oven mitt or dishtowel over the handle to remind yourself that it's hot).
