ASIAN GINGER GRILL MARINADE

This delicious Asian marinade is delicious on anything grilled! Use as marinade up to 24 hours prior to cooking a grilled meat, or simply douse the meat just before grilling.

Steps:

  • Whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, green onion, sesame seeds, and pepper until the honey has dissolved.

⅓ cup soy sauce
¼ cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger root

1 tablespoon raw sesame seeds
½ teaspoon ground pepper

Sizzling steak with shallot marinade image

Steps:

  • Put the steak in a shallow dish and sprinkle with the shallots, vinegar, oil, sea salt and ground black pepper. Rub over the meat with your hands. Leave for at least a hour, or overnight in the fridge.
  • Heat a griddle pan or barbecue. Cook the steaks for 3-4 mins on each side until well browned. Transfer to a board, cover with foil and rest for 5 mins.
  • Serve thinly sliced with new potatoes and salad, or in tortillas, with lettuce, avocado and soured cream.

Ginger Shallot Marmalade image

Steps:

  • In a heavy 10-inch skillet (preferably cast-iron) cook shallots and ginger in butter over moderate heat, stirring frequently, until pale golden, about 12 minutes. Add garlic and cook, stirring, 1 minute. Increase heat to moderately high and stir in a remaining ingredients. Cook mixture, stirring frequently, until syrup and almost all liquid is absorbed, about 12 minutes. Marmalade keeps, covered and chilled, up to 2 weeks.
  • Serve marmalade with meat, poultry, fish, or vegetables.

10 shallots, sliced thin lengthwise
2 tablespoons julienne strips peeled fresh ginger
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 garlic clove, cut into thin strips
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
