CHRISTMAS COOKIE ORNAMENTS
You can make these goodies for the Christmas tree ahead of time! Simply whip up the cookies and store them plain in your freezer. Come Christmas, you can fix homemade frosting and decorate. Then tie on ribbons and hang the shapes on your evergreen. You can also create these treats for eating! - In a bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugar. Beat in the honey, egg and vanilla. Gradually add the flour and salt., Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll to an 1/8-in. thickness. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters dipped in flour. Transfer cutouts to ungreased baking sheets., Using a straw, make a hole in the top of each cookie. Remove the center circle of dough. Bake the cookies at 350° for 6 minutes until the edges are lightly browned. Remove the cookies to wire racks to cool., For frosting, combine the confectioners' sugar, water, corn syrup and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Tint the frosting with liquid or paste food coloring in desired colors., Place each color of frosting in a pastry or plastic bag. Cut a small hole in the tip of each bag. Spread and pipe frosting onto cookies as desired., If desired, create stitch marks on a stocking or veins on holly leaves by dipping a toothpick in food coloring and painting on the lines., For hanging loops, cut forty 8-in. strips of 1/8-in.-wide ribbon. Thread a ribbon strip through the hole in each cookie and tie the ends into a bow.

- In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar and vanilla until blended. Beat in eggs, one at a time. In another bowl, whisk flour, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cloves; gradually beat into creamed mixture., Divide dough in half. Shape each into a disk; wrap in plastic. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm enough to roll., Preheat oven to 350°. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of dough to 1/8-in. thickness. Cut with a floured 4-in. angel-shaped cookie cutter. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets., Bake 12-14 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool completely., For frosting, in a large bowl, beat confectioners' sugar, shortening, lemon juice and enough water to reach a spreading consistency. Spread or pipe over cookies; sprinkle with coarse sugar.

HEAVENLY ANGEL FOOD CAKE
You'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy this classic cake is to make!

- Move oven rack to lowest position. Heat oven to 375°F.
- Mix powdered sugar and flour; set aside. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until foamy. Beat in granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, on high speed, adding vanilla, almond extract and salt with the last addition of sugar. Continue beating until stiff and glossy meringue forms. Do not underbeat.
- Sprinkle sugar-flour mixture, 1/4 cup at a time, over meringue, folding in just until sugar-flour mixture disappears. Push batter into ungreased angel food cake pan (tube pan), 10x4 inches. Cut gently through batter with metal spatula.
- Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until cracks feel dry and top springs back when touched lightly. Immediately turn pan upside down onto heatproof funnel or bottle. Let hang about 2 hours or until cake is completely cool. Loosen side of cake with knife or long, metal spatula; remove from pan.

- Lightly spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. In large bowl, break up cookie dough. Stir or knead in flour until well blended. (DO NOT EAT RAW COOKIE DOUGH AFTER COMBINING WITH FLOUR.) Reshape into log. If too soft to cut into slices, refrigerate up to 30 minutes.
- Heat oven to 350°F. Cut dough into 30 (1/4 inch) slices. With 24 of the slices, cut 2 narrow strips from sides of each slice, leaving a triangle for body (see illustration). Place 2 strips on each side of top point of triangle, curved edges down, for wings. Cut 6 slices into quarters. Roll 1 of the quarter slices into ball; flatten slightly and place at top of triangle for head. On ungreased cookie sheets, place angels 2 inches apart.
- Bake 7 to 11 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; carefully remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 20 minutes. Spread frosting on cooled cookies. Decorate as desired with remaining ingredients.

- Bake 7 to 11 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 15 minutes. Frost and decorate as desired, using corn syrup to make colored sprinkles stick to pretzel twists.
