MISSISSIPPI SIN DIP

I was looking for a recipe for a different dip when I found this posted on the internet blog. This is a great tailgate dip because it is great hot and still really good cold (after the game). I ate way too much of this. I feel like the bread bowl is optional. It looks good, but it isn't necessary to the success of the dip. ...

Steps:

  • 1. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, except French bread; stirring until well blended.
  • 2. Cut a thin slice from top of bread loaf; set slice aside. Using a gentle sawing motion, cut vertically to, but not through, bottom of the loaf, 1/2 inch from the edge, to cut out center of bread. Lift out center of loaf. Fill hollowed bread loaf with the dip. Wrap loaf with foil.
  • 3. Bake dip at 350° degrees for 50 minutes. Serve with reserved bread cubes, crackers,Fritos, or potato chips.
  • 4. You can actually put this in a round bread hulled out for ingredients or baking dish or french bread. Your choice.

16 oz sour cream
2 c cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 c chopped ham
1 green onion, chopped
1/4 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste
1 french bread loaf
8 oz cream cheese softened

MISSISSIPPI SIN

A great meal idea for a party or picnic. I suggest using HALF the cream cheese so that it doesn't taste so cream cheesy. The wider the loaf of bread, the better!

  • Mix Cheddar cheese, ham, sour cream, cream cheese, green onions, green chile peppers, and jalapeno peppers in a bowl; spoon into the hollowed bread loaf. Return the top to the bread and wrap loaf with 2 pieces aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until filling is cooked through and bubbling, about 1 hour 20 minutes.

HOT OR COLD MISSISSIPPI SIN DIP

I have found a few variations of Mississippi Sin Dips, but this is the one I get the most requests for. It is equally good cold or hot, and is one of the first goodies to disappear at gatherings! For really yummy variations, replace the ham with fresh Northwest salad shrimp, Dungeness crab, or crisp fried, crumbled bacon...

Steps:

  • Cream together the sour cream and cream cheese.
  • Add shredded cheddar, minced ham, chopped green chiles, diced onion and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Cut a thin slice from the top of the bread and carefully hollow out the round loaf.
  • Fill hollowed bread with dip and cover with the top that you sliced off.
  • Wrap the filled loaf with aluminum foil and store in refrigerator until ready to serve, or bake at 350 degrees for about an hour and serve hot.
  • Serve with cocktail breads, crackers, celery, or whatever sounds good to you!
  • This usually makes enough for two large bread loaves, or one large + two small loaves.

3/4 cup finely minced cooked ham, shrimp, crabmeat or 3/4 cup bacon
1 (7 ounce) can diced green chilies

Steps:

  • Mix cream cheese and sour cream with mixer until smooth.
  • Add all other ingredients and stir well.
  • Cut top off bread loaf and hollow out the center.
  • Put mixture in the bread and put the top back on. (If you don't want to do the "bread thing" I have also put the ingredients in the crockpot on high till all cheese melts, stirring once or twice, then lowering the temp to low or warm settings to serve.)
