LISA'S SALIBURY STEAK WITH BROWN GRAVY

My family loves it and it is so easy to make salibury steak with brown gravy. It is so simple and easy to make it. It is so good to eat with mashed potatoes with gravy. Yummy!!!! It is so delicious and tasty.

Lisa's Salibury Steak with Brown Gravy image

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Put the ground chuck in a large bowl and mix with dry onion soup mix until well blended. Make patties and put patties on baking sheet. Cook for 30 minutes until no longer pink and done. Put the brown gravy mix in a large skillet and add water in brown gravy mix and mix well. Bring to a boil and reduce to medium-low heat and let it cook and cover for 20 minutes.

2 lb ground chuck
1 pkg dry onion soup mix
4 pkg brown gravy mix (according package to directions)
4 c water

This recipe has been in my family for years. It's easy to cook, but tastes like it took hours to make! I usually make enough extra sauce to pour over mashed potatoes. YUM!

  • In a large bowl, mix together 1/3 cup condensed French onion soup with ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt and black pepper. Shape into 6 oval patties.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown both sides of patties. Pour off excess fat.
  • In a small bowl, blend flour and remaining soup until smooth. Mix in ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder. Pour over meat in skillet. Cover, and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Steps:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and saute until soft, about 6 minutes. Put 1/2 of the onion in a large bowl and the remainder in another bowl. In the large bowl add the beef, bread crumbs, grill seasoning, Worcestershire sauce and the egg. Mix to combine everything well and form the mixture into 5 oval patties. Heat the remaining tablespoon of oil in the same skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties until they are well browned, about 4 to 5 minutes per side. Remove the steaks and pour off all but 2 tablespoons the fat. (The patties will not be cooked through and will finish cooking in the gravy.)
  • Put the pan back on the heat, add the mushrooms, and cook for 5 minutes. Add the remaining onions, sprinkle in the flour, and cook for 2 minutes. Add the beef broth and bring it to a boil. Return the patties to the pan, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook until the sauce has thickened and the steaks are cooked through, about 10 minutes. Steps:

  • Mix first 8 ingredients and 1/2 the onion.
  • Form into patties and cook 5 minutes each side.
  • remove meat from pan.
  • mix the rest of the onion and roasted garlic with flour.
  • Add water and broth and mix till well combined and bring to boil.
  • Add meat and simmer for 20 minutes covered flipping meat occassionally.
  • Serve over Egg Noodles.
