MOMMY'S CRAVIN' STEAK! SALAD
My DH made this salad rather frequently during my pregnancy as I was craving it! Many of our friends got really used to having this served for dinners during that time! ;) Toss with your favorite vinaigrette dressing and serve with a nice crusty baguette and a lovely red wine!!! (Post baby, of course) :)

Steps:
- Coat the steaks in a blend of oil and seasonings such as Montreal steak seasoning and garlic powder.
- Grill to desired doneness.
- Apply a brushing of bbq sauce, if desired before allowing meat to "rest" for 5 minutes prior to slicing. ( Rudy's BBQ sauce is a nice one if you aren't sprucing one up or making your own).
- Depending on the number of servings desired, mix all prepared veggies in a LARGE bowl.
- Mix in sliced steak and blue cheese crumbles.
- At this point you can either dress the entire salad with a nice vinaigrette and toss lightly before serving, or allow each guest to select their own dressing. (a vinaigrette compliments the flavors best).
- Serve with a nice baguette, crescent roll, and your favorite red wine.
- ENJOY (hopefully outside somewhere nice!) :).

- In a small bowl or measuring cup, whisk together balsamic vinegar, mayonnaise, water, brown sugar, garlic and mustard. While continually whisking, gradually stream in the olive oil until the ingredients are completely combined. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Set aside while you prepare the remaining ingredients, or refrigerate in an airtight container or jar for up to 1 week.
- After at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator, remove the steak and discard the marinade. Wipe excess marinade off of the steak by patting it with paper towels. Season the meat on both sides with the garlic powder, salt and pepper. Allow to stand at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before grilling.
- Place the lettuce on a large serving tray or on individual plates. Top with the tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, blue cheese and sliced steak. Drizzle with balsamic dressing. Garnish with crispy fried onions, if desired. Serve immediately.

- STEAK. Click on “marinated flank steak” in the ingredients. You can use the “jump to recipe" button at the top of the page to go directly to the recipe. Marinate steak according to recipe directions. Grill steak after the salad is assembled and you are ready to serve; best served slightly warm.
- DRESSING. Add the Blue Cheese Dressing ingredients to jar or bowl and whisk to combine. Add additional milk as needed. Cover and store in the refrigerator. Best if chilled at least one hour. Dressing can be made up to one week in advance.
- CROUTONS: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray or use a nonstick mat. Add cubed bread to the baking sheet and drizzled with olive oil then sprinkle with spices; toss until evenly coated. Spread bread into an even layer and bake for approximately 12-15 minutes or until golden.
- CORN: Grilling the corn is optional but adds a delicious smokiness. You may also cut the corn straight off of the cob and use raw in the salad.
