Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
- Stir together the flour, powered milk, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt in a medium bowl.
- Using a pastry cutter, cut the butter and shortening into the dry mixture until blended thoroughly.
- Fold in the buttermilk until the dough comes together.
- On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and use hands to press into a circle 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick.
- Cut out circles with a biscuit cutter or a glass. Place the biscuits in cast-iron skillets, then brush the tops with the melted butter.
- Bake until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes.

- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F & lightly grease several baking sheets.
- In large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg & almonds.
- In another bowl, combine yams, sugar butter & vanilla, mixing well.
- Add flour mixture to yam mixture & combine thoroughly.
- Lightly flour a working surface, then turn dough onto it, kneading slightly.
- Roll dough to 1/2-inch thick.
- With a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, cut biscuits & place them on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown.

SIMPLE JAMMY BISCUITS

- Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Rub the flour, sugar and butter together until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Alternatively, you can do this in the food processor. Add enough egg to bring the mixture together to form a stiff dough.
- Flour your hands and shape the dough into a tube, about 5cm in diameter. Cut into 2cm-thick slices and place on a large baking sheet. Space them out as the mixture will spread when baking.
- Make a small indentation in the middle of each slice with the end of a wooden spoon, and drop a tsp of jam in the centre. Bake for 10-15 mins until slightly risen and just golden. Cool on a wire rack.

We were truly amazed at how wonderful these biscuits are. They are fluffy, delicate, and tender. Perfect for fall, there's a faint hint of cinnamon in them. We tried them with butter and cinnamon butter and loved both. Great for breakfast or alongside sliced pork.

- 1. Preheat oven to 450 F. In a medium bowl, combine mix & cinnamon.
- 2. Add sweet potatoes and milk.
- 3. Mix until combined and dough forms.
- 4. Turn out dough onto a floured surface and knead a few times. Roll dough out to 3/4 to 1" thickness.
- 5. Cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter or glass.
- 6. Place on a non-stick baking sheet.
- 7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- 8. Note: The leavening agents are already in the baking mix. No need to add baking powder, baking soda, or salt.

- Mix the oats, flour, sugar, coconut, sunflower seeds and walnuts in a large bowl.
- Mix the golden syrup into the melted butter and add this to the center of the dry ingredients.
- Add the bicarbonate of soda to the boiling water and pour into the center of the butter mixture.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Roll about a tablespoon of the mixture into a ball in your hands. Now flatten it between your hands and place it on a greased baking tray.
- Repeat until all ingredients are used up.
- Bake at 150°C for 20 minutes.
- To make them a bit crunchier, leave them in the oven for a further 30 minutes at 20°C.
