The Legendary Egg Dog

Sometimes the best recipes come from making do with what you have. This legendary egg dog was born out of necessity when I wanted a breakfast sandwich but was fresh out of bread. Lucky for me, I had leftover hot dog buns from an all-star game party, and this simple yet satisfying creation became an instant hit. The crispy edges of the rolled egg nestle perfectly in the soft bun, creating a handheld breakfast that’s both comforting and unexpectedly delicious.

Storage

Best enjoyed fresh and hot. If needed, store in the refrigerator for up to 1 day and reheat gently in the microwave for 15-20 seconds.

Steps:

Cook the Egg
Melt butter in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beaten egg and cook until it begins to bubble around the edges, about 1 minute. Flip the egg carefully and cook until completely set, 2 to 3 minutes more.
Assemble and Serve
While the egg is still warm, gently roll it up. Place the rolled egg in the hot dog bun and top with hot sauce to taste. Serve immediately while warm.
