MOM'S SEASONED TOAST

This is a great partner for any pasta dish. It isn't much of a recipe, in fact it is rather lame, but we really like it for sopping up sauce. I came up with this when I did not have garlic to make garlic bread. Measurements are merely a guess as I just sprinkle on the spices and sort of eyeball it.

Mom's Seasoned Toast image

Steps:

  • Cut bread into 1/2" thick slices, spread with butter.
  • Place on baking sheet and sprinkle with spices (and Parmesan) and place under broiler until lightly toasted, about 2 minutes.

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Slice the baguette diagonally into 1/4-inch slices. You should have 20 to 25 slices. Place the slices in 1 layer on a baking sheet. Brush each slice with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Bake the toasts for 15 to 20 minutes or until they are crisp and browned. Serve at room temperature.

1 baguette

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the flour and seasonings; rub over roast. Place roast fat side up on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1-3/4 to 2-3/4 hours or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°). Let stand for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
