Southern Penne Pasta With Chicken Recipes
SOUTHERN PENNE PASTA WITH CHICKEN
This recipe is from a local grocery store. A little cajun kick to your everyday chicken alfredo. I did research and made sure there was not a typo. The original recipe does call for 2T of Cajun seasoning but please season to your own taste. Thanks for the reviews.

Steps:
- Cook Barilla Penne pasta according to package directions.
- Drain; set aside.
- Meanwhile, melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add chicken; cook, stirring frequently, until browned, about 6 to 8 minutes.
- Add garlic, onions, Cajun seasoning and ground black and cayenne peppers.
- Add bell peppers and mushrooms; stir to combine.
- Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
- Uncover; stir in cream and let simmer another 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese.
- Remove sauce from heat, stir in cooked pasta and serve immediately.

- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together condensed soup, milk, chicken broth, thyme, salt and pepper. Stir in mushrooms, onion, raw chicken, and uncooked pasta.
- Remove foil and give everything a stir in the dish. Stir in sour cream, and sprinkle cheese over top. Return to the oven and bake, uncovered, for 5-10 more minutes, or until pasta is tender and chicken is cooked through.

- Heat a large skillet over medium. Add bacon, and cook, stirring often, until crisp, about 5 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer bacon to a plate lined with paper towels. Reserve drippings in skillet.
- Add garlic to hot drippings in skillet over medium, and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Whisk in whipping cream and cream cheese; cook, whisking often, until cream cheese is melted and mixture is smooth, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in Parmesan, ranch dressing mix, pepper, and reserved 1 cup cooking water. Pour over pasta. Fold in chicken and 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese. Pour mixture into a lightly greased (with cooking spray) 13- x 9-inch baking dish. Top with bacon and remaining 1 cup cheese.
- Bake in preheated oven until golden and bubbly, about 20 minutes. Sprinkle with parsley, and serve hot.
