SWISS SUNDAY BREAD
This is a traditional bread enjoyed in Switzerland on Sundays for breakfast.

Steps:
- Place flour into a bowl, creating a small hole in the center. Sprinkle salt around the edge and place yeast and sugar into the hole.
- Mix egg and egg white together in a 2-cup measuring cup. Add enough water to reach the 1 1/4 cup mark. Stir in milk. Add melted butter. Pour into the center of the flour. Mix thoroughly, adding more milk or flour as needed until dough is smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Cut dough in 1/2. Form each 1/2 into a long roll. Lay rolls out in front of you on a work surface in an 'X' shape. Braid bread by constantly switching the ends. Place bread onto a baking sheet, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Brush bread with beaten egg using a pastry brush.
- Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack until golden, about 30 minutes.

- In a large bowl, combine the egg, sugar and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; stir onto egg mixture just until moistened. Fold in apples and walnuts. Transfer to a greased 9-in. pie plate., Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

Easier than bread pudding, and a good way to use up stale bread. Adapted from Breads of the World. Do not freeze this recipe. NOTE: I hope my description didn't mislead anyone into thinking this is supposed to have the same texture as bread pudding. It isn't.

- Heat oven to 350°.
- Grease and flour 9 or 10 inch springform pan.
- In large bowl, combine 2/3 cup sugar and butter; beat until light and fluffy.
- Add 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons lemon juice; beat until well blended.
- In small bowl, combine 2 cups flour, baking powder and salt; mix well.
- Add to egg mixture; beat at low speed until well blended.
- Spread in greased and floured pan.
- Spoon preserves over batter; carefully spread to cover.
- Top with apple slices; slightly press into batter.
- In medium bowl, combine all topping ingredients; blend well.
- Pour over apples.
- Bake at 350° for 55-65 minutes or until apples are tender, edges are light golden brown and toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes.
- Carefully remove sides of pan.
- In small bowl, blend all glaze ingredients until smooth; drizzle over cake.
- Serve warm or cool.

ITALIAN BREAD DESSERT
This is a deliciously rich dessert that is cooked with cream and apples and is delicately flavored with orange!

- Lightly grease a 5-cup deep casserole with the butter.
- Arrange the apple rings in the bottom of the dish.
- Sprinkle half of the sugar over the apples.
- Pour the wine over the apples.
- Add the bread slices, pushing them down with your hands to flatten them slightly.
- Mix the cream with the eggs, the remaining sugar, and the orange rind and pour the mixture over the bread.
- Set aside to soak for 30 minutes.
- Transfer the dessert to an oven preheated to 350* and bake for 25 minutes, until golden and set.
- Remove from the oven, set aside to cool slightly, and serve warm.
