Steps:

  • Mix the butter, sugar and eggs together. Stir in milk, vanilla, salt and baking powder. Gradually add flour until your dough is able to form a ball. Roll dough out on a floured surface. Cut circles using round cake pans (smaller cake pans work better) for cookie cutters. Each cake consists of 6 -7 layers. Bake dough on cookie sheet 6-7 minutes at 350 degrees F. Cool.
  • For the filling: Place prunes in a sauce pan and cover with water. Boil about 20 minutes and drain. Cool. Grind prunes through a meat grinder. Place ground prunes in a bowl and stir in vanilla and sugar.
  • Place one round dough on a paper towel. Spread a thin layer of prune mixture on top. Repeat until you have 6-7 layers, ending with a dough top.

Steps:

  • DOUGH LAYERS Mix as if cookie dough . Chill well. Roll dough into 6 flat cookies 8-9 inches across and 1/8 inch thick ( A pie pan as a template works good.) Poke holes in it with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. FILLING Boil prunes with some water until cooked. Add sugar and cinnamon. Spread between layers. Wrap and refrigerate for 24 hrs. Ice with almond icing if desired
