CELERY SEED SLAW
A simple cooked dressing gives this crisp cabbage mixture a delightful sweet-and-sour flavor my family savors. When I was a child, my mother used the recipe often, too. It's perfect for potlucks since you make it ahead, then chill it before serving. -Ronnie Stone, Arapahoe, North Carolina

SWEET TART SLAW WITH CELERY SEED DRESSING
From My Great Recipes. From the original card: "You won't use up all the dressing at one time for this quick slaw, but keep it in a jar refrigerated for instant use any time" Also: "You may substitute all or part of the apple with fresh pears, grapes (halved and deseeded), orange segments, or raisins. If desired, you may add 1/2 cup diced walnuts to the salad.

- Make the dressing first. I like to put all the ingredients in a mason jar, screw the lid on tight, and shake shake SHAKE! The shaking will emulsify the dressing, making it creamy. Once emulsified, it shouldn't separate into oil and vinegar. Taste to adjust any of the ingredients to your liking.
- Toss the shredded veggies and seeds together in a large bowl and add enough dressing to moisten. You can refrigerate the slaw several hours before serving if you'd like. Season with salt and pepper and add more dressing to taste just before serving.
