AUTUMN-FLAVORED HAM STEAK

My father would make this for a Sunday dinner. With baked potatoes and green beans, it was so memorable.

Steps:

  • 1. Melt butter in lg skillet over med-high heat. Fry ham steak until both sides are browned.
  • 2. Place apple slices over ham. Pour syrup over apples. Reduce heat to medium. Simmer, stirring occasionally until apples are tender. Sprinkle w/ pumkin pie spice right befor serving.

1-1/2 Tbsp butter
1 2-pound ham steak
1 lg red apple, cored, thinly sliced
1 medium green apple, cored, thinly sliced
1/2 c pure maple syrup
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

HARVEST HAM STEAK

Sauteed onions top this smoky ham steak flavored with apple juice and apple butter. If you have some on hand, use homemade apple butter for a personalized touch.

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, saute onion and pepper in butter until crisp-tender. Remove from pan and set aside. Cut ham steak into four pieces. In the same skillet, brown ham on both sides., Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine cornstarch and apple juice until smooth; pour over ham. Bring to a boil; cook and stir 1-2 minutes or until slightly thickened. Reduce heat; spread apple butter over ham. Top with onion. Cover and simmer for 5-7 minutes or until heated through.
