BADAM HALWA(ALMOND HALWA)

I had lot of almonds and was thinking what to do then i thought let me try with this and came out really well....

Badam Halwa(Almond Halwa) image

Steps:

  • 1. Soak the almonds overnite and peel the skin of badam and keep aside.
  • 2. Grind the almonds in the grinder into a thick paste by adding little water to the consistency of a dough(dont add too much water coz it will take long time to cook).
  • 3. Take heavy bottomed vessel and heat ghee.
  • 4. Then put the almond paste into the ghee and cook on a medium flame for 10-15 minutes.
  • 5. Then add sugar to the paste and mix it well.
  • 6. Simmer the flame and cook for 20-25 mins(cook on low heat).
  • 7. have to get the consistency of halwa where the mixture should not stick to the vessel.
  • 8. serve hot or cold as required.

2 cups almonds (Badam)
3 tablespoons ghee
5 tablespoons sugar

  • Soak the almonds for about 2 hours. We can also boil water and add almonds to it and then close the vessel with a lid and let it sit for half an hour. Then drain the water and peel the almond skin. It is very easy to peel the almond skin, we just need to apply little pressure on the sharp corner and the peel comes out easily. I usually prefer soaking almonds in hot water as it makes our peeling easily.
  • Then take the peeled almonds in a mixer along with 1/2 cup of milk. We should add milk just to grind the almonds to a thick coarse paste. I have used 1/2 Cup of milk. Grind the almonds to a litte coarse paste. If you think you need milk to grind the almonds, then add milk little by little.
  • Heat 2 tablespoon of ghee in a pan. Add the ground almond paste and saute it in low flame for about 2 minutes.
