BANANA SPLIT BROWNIE BARS

Those who know, know that bananas and chocolate are a match made in dessert heaven. This recipe has both, and so much more. The decadent brownie base is the perfect stage for the smooth banana cream to really shine-with cherries on top, of course. Go on, make the family's day with this delicious dessert.

Banana Split Brownie Bars image

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom of 13x9-inch pan with shortening or cooking spray. Make brownie batter as directed on box for cakelike brownies. Stir in walnuts. Spread in pan. Bake 22 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool completely on cooling rack, about 1 hour.
  • In large bowl, beat dry pudding mixes and milk with whisk about 2 minutes or until thick. Stir in 1 cup of the whipped topping. Spread over brownie. Spread remaining whipped topping over pudding layer. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours.
  • When ready to serve, top with bananas, strawberries and pineapple. In small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate fudge sauce uncovered on High 10 to 20 seconds or until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle warmed sauce over brownie with fork. Cut into 6 rows by 3 rows. Top each bar with a cherry. Cover and refrigerate any remaining bars.

I got this recipe form my mother-in-law. Bananas, crushed pineapple and maraschino cherries are all baked into a cake. A light, buttery frosting is applied, and the cake is cut into bars for snacking.

Banana Split Cake Bars image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Make a well in the center and pour in the crushed pineapple, eggs, oil, bananas and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in the cherries. Mix well and pour into prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Frost cake while still warm.
  • To make the frosting: in a medium bowl, combine melted butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla and confectioners' sugar. Beat in milk, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is achieved.

  • Preheat oven to 375°. Grease a 15x10x1-in. baking pan., In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until crumbly, about 2 minutes. Add eggs; mix well. Beat in bananas, sour cream and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to butter mixture. Transfer to prepared pan., Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 18-20 minutes.   • In a large saucepan, combine sugar, milk, chocolate chips and 1/2 cup butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir for 8 minutes.
