CAROLINA STRAWBERRY LEMONADE
This is not the usual blender Strawberry Lemonade, but a well worth recipe for a refreshing beverage that will make your guests think they are hanging with Martha herself....you will make this again and again! DELICIOUS!

Steps:
- In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of water, sugar and lemon zest and bring to a simmer while stirring. Pour the syrup into a stainless steel or glass bowl, stir in the remaining 2 cups of water and lemon juice. Place bowl inside of a bowl filled with ice water, stirring occasionally, until chilled, about 10 minutes.
- Process the strawberries in a food processor or blender, stir into the lemonade and strain.
- Serve over ice.

- Mix strawberries and 1/4 cup sugar together in a bowl; set aside for juices to release from strawberries, 5 to 10 minutes.
- Bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan; add 3/4 cup sugar. Cook and stir sugar mixture until sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and cool simple syrup to room temperature.
- Stir simple syrup, 6 cups water, lemon juice, and ice together in a pitcher. Add sweetened strawberries and stir.

I found this recipe in a recipe box from a estate sale. When I made this lemonade I cut the recipe in half except I made the whole amount of the sugar syrup and used all but about a 1/2 cup. When I made the sugar syrup I used Splenda in place of the sugar.
