Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, combine the wine, brandy, and orange liqueur. Pour in the sugar, stir or shake the pitcher thoroughly to mix. Add all citrus slices at once. Allow the mixture to sit for 1 hour before serving to allow the citrus flavor to come through.

3 bottles pinot grigio
1 1/2 cups brandy
3/4 cup orange liqueur
1/2 cup sugar
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 blood orange, thinly sliced
3 kumquats, sliced
1 lime, thinly sliced

CITRUS SANGRIA

The wine shop I work for recently had a Sangria party for our customers. This was one of the recipes we used. It is best to allow this to sit overnight (add ice just before serving) but if you're in a rush it will still be good to drink right away.

  • Begin by macerating the fruit. Add half of the apples, grapefruit, lemon, blood orange and pears to a large pitcher and squeeze the lemon juice on top. Muddle the fruit using a wooden spoon. Add the remaining half of the fruits. Pour over the red wine, grappa, orange liqueur and stir. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 2 hours, or overnight if time allows. Add the orange juice and simple syrup, and then top off with the chilled club soda before serving.

1 ruby grapefruit, thinly sliced
1 lemon, thinly sliced

1 cup grappa
1/2 cup orange liqueur, such as Cointreau
