Mix together on medium speed, dry cake mix, eggs, baking powder, both extracts, and remaining cherry pie filling until well blended. Pour batter into pan, and level with a spatula. Bake for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Remove cake from oven and allow to cool completely in pan. frosting: Soften the cream cheese and butter, but don't let it get warm, just take the chill off. Beat the cream cheese and butter together until creamy. Add in the cherry pie filling and extracts and beat for a minute or two until cherries are broken into small pieces. Slowly add the powdered sugar until completely combined and of spreading consistency. Keep refrigerated until ready to use.

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a deep 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl.
  • Place 1 cup sugar and butter in a separate bowl; beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, 4 to 5 minutes. Stir in milk and vanilla extract. Add flour mixture to butter mixture; mix until batter is well blended and thick, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Spread batter in the prepared baking dish; arrange cherries on top. Drizzle cherry juice over the cherries. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup sugar over the surface.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 40 to 45 minutes.

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Cream the cream cheese, butter or margarine, sugar, and vanilla together until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift together 2 1/4 cup flour, baking powder, and salt; fold into cream cheese mixture. Dredge cherries in 1/4 cup flour, and fold into batter.
  • Sprinkle pecans over the bottom of an ungreased 10 inch angel food tube pan. Bottom should be completely covered. Add a few more pecans if necessary. Spoon batter into pan on top of nuts.
  • Bake for about 75 minutes, or until an inserted wooden pick comes out clean. Allow cake to cool in pan. Run knife around outside edge and center tube. Ease cake out of pan, and onto plate.

  • Prepare white cake mix as directed on box.
  • Bake in 2 greased cake pans (8 inch or 9 inch pans).
  • Let cakes cool
  • Prepare frosting by mixing softened cream cheese, defrosted cool whip and vanilla extract with hand mixer until blended and smooth.
  • Place one completely cooled cake layer on a serving platter. Frost with about 3/4 cup frosting. Top with second cake layer. Frost top and sides of cake.
  • Begin to place cherries on top of cake with a teaspoon one at a time starting in the center, (trying not to add too much of the cherry pie filling syrup or jell to avoid cherries sliding off)
  • Once the top of the cake is covered in cherries, add cherry pie filling syrup/jell to the edges of cake and allow to drip down the sides of cake.
  • Refrigerate for 1-2 hours before serving
