ASIAN SALAD DRESSING

This Asian salad dressing is delicious in a salad or on stir-fried vegetables. It will last, sealed in a Mason jar, in the refrigerator for about six weeks. A tablespoon of ground ginger may be used in place of fresh. -Judy Batson, Tampa, Florida

Asian Salad Dressing image

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a jar with a tight-fitting lid; shake well. Refrigerate until serving. Shake dressing again just before serving.

1/4 cup rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons minced fresh gingerroot

Steps:

  • Whisk the red wine vinegar, olive oil, hoisin sauce, honey, garlic, salt, and pepper together in a bowl. Store in refrigerator. Shake well before use.

Asian Ginger Dressing image

Steps:

  • In a 1 pint glass jar or larger, combine the garlic, ginger, olive oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey, and water. Cover the jar with a tight fitting lid, and shake well. Remove lid, and heat jar in the microwave for 1 minute just to dissolve the honey. Let cool, and shake well before serving. Store covered in the refrigerator.

Found this recipe along with a recipe that called for a chinese salad dressing in a Better Crocker magazine. Use this on Asian tossed salads. Sharing this so I can have on hand when needed. I am just guessing on how much this makes.

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a jar with tight lid or a pour top shaker bottle.
  • Shake to combine well, until sugar is well dissolved.
  • Put in refrigerator over night.
  • (I add a bit more soy sauce, for my taste).
  • Shake well and pour over salad made with: pouched chicken, romaine lettuce, mandarine oranges, snow peas, slivered almonds, seseme seeds, crisp Chow Mein noodles, etc.

  • In a large heat-proof bowl, arrange the minced garlic, minced ginger, the white parts of the chopped scallion, and chopped Thai chilies so they are adjacent to each other at the bottom of the bowl (don’t messily pile them all on top of each other).
  • Now infuse the Sichuan peppercorns in oil. In a small pot, heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil with the Sichuan peppercorns over low heat until fragrant, taking care not to burn the peppercorns.
  • After about 10 minutes, remove the peppercorns using a fine meshed strainer or slotted spoon. Heat the infused oil just until it begins to smoke. Pour it carefully over the arranged aromatics in the bowl. It will bubble and sizzle! Carefully stir to evenly distribute the heat.
  • Now add in the sugar, vinegar, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt and five spice powder. Mix well.
