- Melt butter in 11x8-inch pan or dish in a preheated 350°F oven. Combine flour, 3/4 cup of sugar, pecans, 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa, milk, and vanilla in a small bowl. Spoon over melted butter. Do not stir. Mix 1 cup sugar and the 1 1/2 cups cocoa together, then sprinkle back and forth over the batter. Do not stir. Pour boiling water over top. Do not stir. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes, cool for about 10 to 15 minutes. Best if served warm. Top with vanilla ice cream, if desired.

In an oven-safe bowl over a pot of hot (not boiling) water, melt the chocolate morsels. Allow to cool 5 minutes at room temperature. Add milk and egg to the chocolate mixture and mix well. Finally, add chocolate sauce to flour mixture and mix well. Spread cherry pie filling in the bottom of a 2-quart casserole dish. Drop chocolate batter randomly over cherries. Sprinkle nuts all over top. Bake 40 to 45 minutes at 350°F and let cool before serving.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Coat a 2 quart casserole dish with vegetable cooking spray. Melt chocolate chips in a measuring cup in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds until smooth. Let stand for 5 minutes to cool slightly.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until the dough is a uniform crumbly texture. Beat the egg into the melted chocolate chips, then stir the milk in. Pour the chocolate mixture into the dry ingredients, and stir until well blended.
- Pour the cherry pie filling in an even layer in the bottom of the greased casserole dish. Drop spoonfuls of the chocolate batter over the cherries in a random pattern.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until top crust is not doughy when lifted. Serve warm.
