Steps:
- Cook the bacon and remove from the pan. Add the onion and cook till wilted, add the tomatoes or the sauce and the sugar. Reduce the heat and simmer about 15 min. Add the cooked pasta to the pan, and the reserved bacon. Heat thru, tossing then serve.
DEPRESSION SPAGHETTI SOUP
This is a soup my grandmother made during the great depression. We love it on those cold wintry days. Keeps for days in fridge, just microwave to heat up and add cheese.

Steps:
- Fill 5 qt pot with water to 1 inch from top.
- Add diced potatoes to water, with oleo, and spices. Bring to a boil.
- Add can of tomato paste.
- Add spaghetti noodles broken in half. Boil till done.
- Ladle into bowls add grated cheese or mozzarella cheese to bowl.
- It melts, oh so good.

- Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large pot, prepare Spaghetti according to package label.
- Strain Spaghetti.
- Return to pot.
- Toss Margarine or Butter with Spaghetti until melted.
- In a medium sauce pan add tomato paste, tomato sauce, water and ketchup.
- Over low heat slowly add Velveeta until it is all melted and fully incorporated into sauce.
- Pour sauce over buttered spaghetti and toss gently until well combined.
- Pour Spaghetti into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
- Cover with Aluminum foil.
- Bake 45 to 60 minutes until firm.
- Enjoy!
- **Variation: Do not bake.
