- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch pan.
- In a large bowl, cream sugar and shortening. Add beaten eggs, and mix well. Stir in salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Mix in flour and baking powder, and then raisins and nuts. Mix tomato soup and baking soda together; beat into first mixture.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool.
- Beat cream cheese and confectioners sugar together until smooth. Frost the cake.

TOMATO SOUP SPICE CAKE
It sounds like a joke on paper, but this cake is the definition of "trust the process." - Position an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9-by-9-inch baking pan generously with nonstick spray.
- Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves through a fine-mesh strainer into a medium bowl. Whisk together.
- Combine the butter, sugar and vanilla in another medium bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 4 minutes. Add the flour mixture and can of soup; fold in with a rubber spatula. Transfer to the prepared baking pan. Smooth the top with the spatula. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes.
- Let cool completely in the pan, about 1 hour, then frost the top with the frosting or cut into squares and serve each with a dollop of whipped cream.

- Combine the tomato soup and the soda in a bowl, and let it stand.
- Cream sugar, egg, butter, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Mix in tomato soup and soda mixture, and then flour. Stir in the raisins, and pour the batter in a greased baking dish.
- Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 1 hour, or until done. Cool the cake, and top with cream cheese icing.

MY GRANDMA'S TOMATO SOUP CAKE
My grandmother was a wonderful cook and baker. She worked full time and still had a full meal on the table every night. On Saturdays she baked kuchen for the week. She loved to cook with tomato soup and I have many of her recipes with this favorite ingredient of hers.

- 1. Blend shortening and sugar. Combine tomato soup, water and baking soda.
- 2. Add to first mixture the dry ingredients. Stir in raisins and nuts.
- 3. Pour cake batter into a greased 9"x13" cake pan. Bake at 350-degrees for 45 minutes.
- 4. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.

- Put dry cake mix in a large bowl and add the undiluted tomato soup and only the ingredients listed above. Mix and bake according to cake mix directions.
- While that is baking, make the frosting by beating the cream cheese, butter and vanilla in a bowl on medium speed.
- Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of sugar at a time, beating until smooth.
- Frost the cooled cake and enjoy!

EASY,EASY TOMATO SOUP CAKE
This was one of my mother's recipes.She made the cake from scratch for years. I don't know when she changed to the cake mix,she didn't tell, lol. Its that good.Found the hand written recipe stuck in one of her cook books. Hope ya'll like it.

- This cake can be made as a layer cake or a tube cake
- Preheat oven to 350 degree.Grease and flour 3 - 8" cake pans or 1 tube pan.
- Mix cake mix,water,eggs,and soup according to cake mix directions.
- Pour into prepared cake pans.
- Bake the 3-8" layers for 15 to 20 min. Bake the tube cake 45 - 55 min.
- FROSTING:
- beat the cream cheese and butter until creamy,add confectioner sugar a 1/2 cup at a time.Then add vanilla. Put frosting between each layer and on top and sides.
- If tube cake you can just put a glaze over cake or frost it with cream cheese frosting.
