WONTON MOZZARELLA STICKS

You won't believe something this easy could taste so fantastic! Crunchy outside, gooey cheese inside, these mozzarella sticks are a treat all ages will love. Kids could help wrap them, too. -Shirley Warren, Thiensville, Wisconsin

Steps:

  • Place a piece of string cheese near the bottom corner of one egg roll wrapper (keep remaining wrappers covered with a damp paper towel until ready to use). Fold bottom corner over cheese. Roll up halfway; fold sides toward center over cheese. Moisten remaining corner with water; roll up tightly to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and cheese., In an electric skillet, heat 1/2 in. of oil to 375°., Fry sticks, a few at a time, for 30-60 seconds on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve with marinara sauce.

Egg Roll Mozzarella Sticks Recipe by Tasty image

Steps:

  • Slice the egg roll wrappers in half.
  • Place a stick of string cheese on the edge of the egg roll wrapper, then fold the sides of the wrapper over the ends of the cheese.
  • Wet the other edge of the wrapper with water, then roll it up tightly, pressing the edge to make sure it's sealed.
  • Repeat with the remaining wrappers and cheese.
  • Heat oil in a pot.
  • Fry the sticks until golden brown, then drain on a paper towel.
  • Serve with marinara.
  • Enjoy!

Steps:

  • Lay the egg roll wrappers flat. Lay a piece of the thinly sliced cheese on top of the egg roll wrapper. From the corner of the wrapper, take your cheese stick and roll towards opposite corner tightly and cut off the extra material of the wrapper on the ends.
  • Heat your skillet with oil to medium/high heat.
  • Let each wrapper fry on each side for 30-45 seconds or until brown. You can put more than one stick in at a time.

  • Lay the egg roll wrappers flat and lightly brush the entire wrapper with water. Sprinkle the garlic powder over egg roll wrapper. Start with the "less is more" strategy.
  • Place the mozzarella diagonally across wrapper, being sure that it lines up with two corners. Bring both corners over cheese. Hold the ends in place with one hand and bring the wrapper over the mozzarella, tucking it slightly underneath the cheese.
