FILIPINO SINARSAHANG

Sinarsahang is a traditional Filipino chicken and tomato stew dish that basically simmers itself on the stove.

Steps:

  • Heat a large pot over medium heat and add garlic. Cook until just golden; add oil and onion. Cook until onion is shiny, 1 to 3 minutes. Add tomatoes. Add chicken and bay leaf. Add water and bouillon and bring stew to a boil, about 5 minutes.
  • Add vinegar to the stew in the pot. Cover and cook 10 to 15 minutes, adding extra water if necessary.
  • Add soy sauce to the stew and simmer 40 minutes more.
  • Season with red pepper, salt, and black pepper.

¼ cup white vinegar
⅓ cup soy sauce
1 pinch red pepper flakes
