HERB BURGERS

These tasty burger have lots of flavor! My dear Uncle Mickey shared the recipe with me years ago. -Brenda Sorrow, Kannapolis, North Carolina

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the first 11 ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into eight patties. , Grill, uncovered, over medium heat for 5-6 minutes on each side or until meat is no longer pink. Serve on buns with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes and onion.

1 egg, lightly beaten
1 medium onion, chopped
2 teaspoons ketchup
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/4 teaspoon rubbed sage
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
2 pounds ground beef
8 hamburger buns, split
Mayonnaise, lettuce leaves and sliced tomatoes and red onion

GARLIC HERB BURGERS

A little surprise will greet you when you bite into these succulent burgers hot of the grill. You can make each recipe ahead of time and refrigerate the burgers for 24 hours or freeze them, tightly wrapped for 1 month

Steps:

  • Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl, add 1 Tbs of the soup mix and mix it in well.
  • Shape the hamburger into 12 1/2" thick patties In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, remaining soup mix and the green onions Place 1 Tbs of the cream cheese filling on a patty, and then cover with another patty, sealing the edges together.
  • Refrigerate the hamburgers for at least 1 hour before cooking.
  • To Freeze: Flash Freeze uncooked on a cookie sheet until solid then put into a ziplock bag or vacuum seal quantity desired.
  • To Cook: Thaw in refrigerator and grill as usual.

2 lbs lean ground beef
1 envelope savory herb with garlic soup mix (Lipton is my favorite)
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup green onion, chopped

Garlic Herb Cheeseburgers image

Steps:

  • Lightly shape ground beef into four 1/2" thick patties.
  • Place patties in center of grid over medium, ash covered coals. Place onion and bell pepper around patties. Grill patties, uncovered, 11-13 minutes to medium (160) done, until not pink in center and juices show no pink color, turning occasionally. Grill vegetables 13-16 minutes or until crisp-tender, turning occasionally. Season burgers and vegetables with salt and pepper. Cut pepper into strips.
  • Spread cheese on roll tops and bottoms. Serve burgers in rolls with onion and pepper.
  • To Broil: Place patties on rack in broiler pan so surface of beef is 3" to 4" from heat. Place onion and bell pepper around patties. Broil patties 10-12 minutes to medium (160) done, until not pink in center and juices show no pink color, turning once. Broil vegetables until crisp-tender, turning as needed.
