GRANDMA'S BAKING POWDER BISCUITS

This is my grandmother's biscuit recipe. It is my all-time favorite and has a really good flavor to it. Be sure not to roll out too thin, you want high biscuits! I usually just pat out the dough to the desired thickness, usually 1/2 inch.

Here's a family-sized version of my grandma's summertime dessert. I can still taste the sweet juicy berries she piled over warm biscuits and topped with a huge dollop of fresh whipped cream. My father added even more indulgence to his serving by first buttering his biscuits. -Shirley Joan Helfenbein, Lapeer, Michigan

OLD-FASHIONED SHORTCAKE

This is a fabulous old-fashioned recipe given to me by a friend. It was her mother's recipe and it is the best shortcake. It sops up all the juice and the touch of nutmeg sends it over the top. My very favorite recipe for strawberry shortcake!
