Steps:

  • Put guaro, sugar and lime wedges in a rocks glass. Muddle all the ingredients until the juice is extracted and the rinds are bruised. Leave it all in the glass and add ice cubes. Top with a splash of club soda. Serve with a straw.

2 ounces guaro
2 ounces simple syrup or 2 teaspoons raw sugar
1 lime cut into 6 or 8 wedges
Ice cubes, as needed
Splash club soda

Steps:

  • Combine the ingredients in a rocks or old fashion glass and muddle until the limes have been fully juiced. Fill remainder of glass with ice and garnish with a sugar cane stick (optional).

2.5 oz. of Guaro Cacique (Brazilian Leblon can also be used although the latter is slightly more potent)
2 oz. of simple syrup
1/2 lime (cut into 4-6 wedges)

I love using hot sauce in chiliguaro, a Costa Rican firewater shot. It's refreshing and spicy, so it's great for the daytime!

Steps:

  • Combine the tomato juice, guaro, lime juice, Salsa Lizano, hot sauce, onion and cilantro in a blender. Add 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper and puree until smooth. Pour into a container and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • To serve, vigorously shake or stir some of the tomato juice mixture in a shaker with ice until very cold. Strain into 2-ounce shot glasses and garnish with lime wedges.

2 cups tomato juice
2/3 cup guaro or white rum
2/3 cup fresh lime juice, plus lime wedges for garnish
1 1/2 tablespoons Salsa Lizano
1 teaspoon habanero hot sauce
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Cut up lime. Place in Shaker.
  • Add 5 teaspoons sugar.
  • Use muddler and smash limes until it makes a syrup consistency with the sugar.
  • Add White Rum and ice.
  • Shake in shaker.
  • Pour Strawberry Syrup in to glass.
  • Add Lemon Lime Soda to glass.
  • Pour shaker into glass.
  • Stir. Drink. Enjoy!
