Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the butter, onion, mustard and poppy seeds; spread about 2 tablespoons on each bun. Layer with ham and cheese; replace tops. Wrap each sandwich in foil. , Bake at 350° for 6-10 minutes or until cheese is melted. Freeze option: Freeze unbaked sandwiches up to 2 months. To use, preheat oven to 350°. Bake 30-35 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Baked Ham and Cheese Party Sandwiches image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix together butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried onion. Separate the tops from bottoms of the rolls, and place the bottom pieces into the prepared baking dish. Layer about half the ham onto the rolls. Arrange the Swiss cheese over the ham, and top with remaining ham slices in a layer. Place the tops of the rolls onto the sandwiches. Pour the mustard mixture evenly over the rolls.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the rolls are lightly browned and the cheese has melted, about 20 minutes. Slice into individual rolls through the ham and cheese layers to serve.

  • On a large work surface, slice the rolls in half through the middle. If they are attached as dinner rolls often are, you can leave them together in groups of six, and slice horizontally through each large mass of rolls.
  • On the bottom half of the rolls, layer on the ham. Add the cheese in another layer. On the top half of bread, spread the mustard and sprinkle the onions. Place the two halves together and wrap tightly with aluminum foil. At this point the rolls can be frozen, for up to 1 month. Alternatively, you can refrigerate the sandwiches up to a day in advance.
  • Thaw the rolls completely in the fridge prior to baking, if frozen. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place the wrapped foil package in the oven and bake for about 25 minutes. At this point, slice through the rolls and separate. If not heated completely through, bake for another 10 minutes or until ham is hot, cheese is melted, and bread is crisp. Serve immediately.
