BAKED BEANS WITH BEEF

This is the best baked bean recipe I've ever known. Great with any main dish but more especially with barbeque beef, pork, or chicken. The slow cooker does an amazing job with these beans.

Baked Beans with Beef image

Steps:

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and onion. Cook and stir until beef is browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease. Set aside.
Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels. Crumble into small pieces.
Transfer beef-onion mixture and bacon to the slow cooker. Add all the beans, sugar, mustard, and soy sauce. Cook on Medium until flavors meld, about 4 hours.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 pound peppered bacon
7 (28 ounce) cans baked beans (such as Bush's® Original)
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained
1 (15 ounce) can light red kidney beans, drained
1 (15 ounce) can dark red kidney beans, drained
1 (15 ounce) can great northern beans, drained
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup prepared yellow mustard
¼ cup soy sauce

When I grew up my father was the one who cooked dinner on weeknights. He enjoyed "inventing" dishes from what was on hand. This is my tweaked version of his creation. Delicious, quick to make and easy on the budget. My kids always used to fight over the leftovers, if there were any. Wonderful served with a fresh salad, apple sauce and bread & butter. Servings is a guess-timate, but it makes enough for a hungry family of six! Can be simmered in a crockput on low for 4 hours if desired. Throw in 1-2 teaspoons of Recipe #50639 if you want a more complex flavor - yum!

Hamburger Beans image

Steps:

In a large frying pan, cook hamburger until no longer pink, 10-15 minutes.
Break into small pieces with a spatula and drain off grease.
While ground beef is cooking, chop onions and peel garlic cloves & crush.
Melt butter in bottom of a large cooking pot on medium heat; saute the onions 5 minutes.
Add garlic to the onions and continue to saute until onions are translucent, another 2-3 minutes.
Add beans, ground beef and brown sugar to pot and stir well.
Heat on medium-low heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

2 lbs ground beef (I prefer meatloaf mix)
3 small onions, chopped (use Vidalia Sweet Onions if available)
3 garlic cloves, crushed (or more if you like!)
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons light brown sugar (optional)

In a Dutch oven, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in the remaining ingredients; heat through. Transfer to 2 greased 2-qt. baking dishes. Cover and freeze 1 dish for up to 3 months., Cover and bake the second dish at 400° for 30 minutes. Uncover; bake until bubbly, 10-15 minutes longer., To use frozen casserole: Thaw in the refrigerator. Cover and bake at 400° for 40 minutes. Uncover; bake until bubbly, 15-20 minutes longer.

Place in a casserole dish and bake, covered, at 325 for 45 minutes.
