HERSHEY'S® CHOCOLATE CANDY BAR COOKIES
Candy bar cookies offer a different take on chocolate chip cookie bars: a layer of melted Hershey's® bars in between chocolate chip cookie dough (without the chocolate chips).

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Butter a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Mix flour, salt, and baking soda together in a bowl.
- Combine butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Beat in eggs 1 at a time. Mix sugar mixture gradually into flour mixture. Spread 1/2 the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven until partially firm, about 10 minutes. Leave oven on.
- Cover the partially baked dough with chocolate bars, breaking up as needed to fit. Drop remaining dough over the chocolate as evenly as possible.
- Bake in the hot oven until golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes more. Let cool.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Beat butter, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla until creamy.
- Add flour and salt; mix well.
- Pat dough into a 10x13" rectangle on greased cookie sheet.
- Bake for about 20 minutes- until dough is set and lightly browned.
- Remove from oven and immediately top with the Hershey bar squares.
- When squares have softened (and it doesn't take long!) spread evenly and top with the finely chopped walnuts.
- Cut into bars while warm, as these are difficult to cut when cooled.

- Heat oven to 350°F. Remove wrappers from chocolate bars. Set aside 1 milk chocolate bar and 1 dark chocolate bar.
- Coarsely chop 2 milk chocolate bars and 2 dark chocolate bars; set aside. Break remaining 3 milk chocolate and 3 dark chocolate bars into sections. Break each section in half; set aside.
- Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Stir in chopped chocolate and walnuts, if desired.
- Drop 1/4 cup measurements of dough about 4 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or just until set. Cool 4 to 5 minutes; lightly press 6 to 8 broken chocolate bar pieces into top of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
