Lemon-Horseradish Sauce image

Steps:

  • Combine sour cream, lemon zest and juice, and horseradish in a small bowl; season with salt. Serve with gefilte fish.

1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest, plus 1 tablespoon fresh juice
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish, such as Gold's
Kosher salt

LEMON HORSERADISH NEW POTATOES

These are new potatoes served with a zesty sauce. This has been a longstanding favorite at our house. If you are in a hurry, just boil the potatoes and serve with the sauce.

Lemon Horseradish New Potatoes image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Melt butter in a 2 quart casserole dish in the oven. Stir in salt, pepper, horseradish and lemon juice. Place potatoes in dish and toss to coat with butter mixture.
  • Cover and bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, or until potatoes are tender.

Lemon-Horseradish Sole image

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, stir together butter, parsley, lemon zest and juice, horseradish, and mustard.
  • Season both sides of fillets with salt; lay, flat side up, on a clean work surface. Reserve 2 teaspoons butter mixture; dividing evenly, spread remaining butter mixture on top of fillets. Fold fillets in half crosswise, enclosing butter mixture.
  • Place folded fillets in a 9-inch microwave-safe dish with a tight-fitting lid. Top with reserved butter mixture, dividing evenly. Cover; microwave on high until fish is just cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  • To serve, place fillets on plates, and spoon juices from dish over fillets; garnish with lemon wedges, if desired.

Poached Shrimp with Lemon-Horseradish Dipping Sauce image

Steps:

  • For shrimp:
  • Fill medium bowl with ice water; set aside. Combine 2 cups water, wine, and next 4 ingredients in medium saucepan. Bring to boil. Add shrimp; reduce heat to low, cover, and poach just until shells are pink and shrimp are opaque in center, 3 to 4 minutes. Using slotted spoon, transfer shrimp to bowl with ice water; reserve poaching liquid and lemon half. Drain and peel shrimp, leaving tails intact. Devein shrimp.
  • For dipping sauce:
  • Squeeze juice from reserved lemon half into poaching liquid in pan. Boil liquid until reduced to generous 2 tablespoons, about 20 minutes. Strain; cool.
  • Mix crème fraîche, chopped chives, horseradish, lemon peel, and 1 tablespoon reduced poaching liquid in small bowl. Season sauce with coarse salt and black pepper. DO AHEAD: Shrimp and sauce can be made 1 day ahead. Cover separately; chill.
  • Spoon dipping sauce into short glasses. Arrange shrimp on rims. Garnish with whole fresh chives.

1 cup dry white wine
6 whole black peppercorns
1/2 lemon
1 Turkish bay leaf
Pinch of coarse kosher salt
8 uncooked unpeeled large shrimp
Dipping sauce:
1/4 cup crème fraîche or sour cream
1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
1 teaspoon prepared white horseradish
1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon peel
Coarse kosher salt
Whole fresh chives (for garnish)
