Macaroni With Gruyere Cheese Serrano Ham and Leeks Recipe image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450ºF.
  • Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a medium-sized skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the ham and cook until brown.
  • Add the leek.
  • Then add the cream.
  • When the cream begins to simmer, add the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and pasta, and season with salt and prepare.
  • Divide the pasta into 4 oven-proof dishes.
  • Top with Gruyere cheese and bread crumbs.
  • Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with chopped chives.
  • macaroni will be very hot so it is best to let it sit just a few minutes before serving.

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 200C/fan 180C. Cook the macaroni.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and add the garlic and leeks and allow to soften.
  • Melt the butter in a pan.Stir in the flour gradually.
  • Add the milk gradually, stirring to avoid lumps.Add the mustard.
  • Add the cheese and stir the mixture until it has melted into the sauce.
  • Stir the leeks into the sauce. Add the cooked pasta.
  • Put the mixture into an oven proof dish, top with cheese and bake for 20mins.

Macaroni With Ham and Cheese image

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  • Bring 3 quarts of water to a boil for cooking the macaroni. Add salt to taste. Add the macaroni and cook 10 to 12 minutes, or until tender. Drain and return to pot.
  • Meanwhile, cut the ham into 1/2-inch cubes and set aside. There should be about 2 cups.
  • Slice the mushrooms. There should be about 2 cups.
  • Cut the Cheddar into slices about 1/4 inch thick. Stack the slices and cut them into 1/4-inch-wide strips. Cut the strips into 1/4-inch cubes. There should be about 2 cups.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in a saucepan and add the flour, stirring with a wire whisk. Cook for about a minute; then add the milk, stirring rapidly with the whisk. Let simmer about 1 minute and add the nutmeg, Cheddar cheese, and salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Heat the remaining tablespoon of butter in a skillet and add the onions and mushrooms. Cook, stirring, until the mushrooms are wilted. Add the ham and cook, stirring, about 1 minute. Add the cheese sauce, the cayenne and cream. Cook, stirring, about 1 minute.
  • Pour and scrape the mixture into the macaroni and mix well. Transfer to a buttered 10-cup baking dish. Sprinkle the top with Parmesan cheese and place in the oven. Bake 10 minutes. Turn the broiler to high.
  • Brown the macaroni and cheese under the broiler until the top is nicely browned, 2 to 3 minutes.

  • Heat oven to 200C/fan180C/gas 6. Cook the leeks in a pan of boiling salted water for 4-5 mins or until just tender. Drain and cool under a cold tap to stop them from cooking any further, then drain again well and pat dry on kitchen paper.
  • Wrap each leek in a slice of ham, then arrange, side-by-side, in a large baking dish. Mix the cheddar in a bowl with the Dijon mustard and crème fraîche, until well combined. Season to taste.   • 1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
