  • Toss the strawberries in the simple syrup and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.

1/2 cup simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar heated until sugar dissolves; cool)
2 cups fresh halved strawberries

Steps:

  • In a bowl combine all ingredients. Let stand in refrigerator for 2 hours.

2 pints medium size strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 (750 milliliter) bottle red wine
1/4 cup orange blossom honey
1 teaspoon finely chopped lemon zest
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup sugar

MACERATED STRAWBERRIES

Strawberries soaked in orange liqueur are a delicious dessert topping. As you stir them, crush some of the strawberries with a fork to release the juices and make this macerated strawberries recipe even better.

Steps:

  • Hull strawberries, cut in half, and place in a bowl. Add sugar and liqueur and mix until well combined. Refrigerate until strawberries are very soft and juicy, stirring occasionally with a fork, about 4 hours.

1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
