MEAT JUN

This is a great Koren recipe. Time does not reflect marinade time. Actual times are estimates. The recipe doesn't tell you when to slice the meat but I would personally slice it after it marinates ... might be overpowering otherwise.

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients for marinade.
  • Soak meat in marinade for 3 hours or overnight. [Please make sure your meat is thinly sliced as listed in the ingredients.].
  • Coat marinated meat with flour then dip into egg.
  • Fry until golden brown. Cut into strips when done.
  • Combine vinegar sauce ingredients; mix well.
  • Serve meat with sauce.

Steps:

  • Combine green onion, garlic, 1/2 cup shoyu, 1/2 cup sugar, sesame oil and dash of pepper for marinade.
  • Soak meat in marinade for at least 3 hours, best if overnight.
  • Coat marinated meat with flour then dip into egg.
  • Fry until golden brown.
  • Combine 2 tbsp shoyu, vinegar, 1 teaspoon sugar, sesame seeds and a dash of pepper for dipping sauce.

  • Marinate the meat. Place the meat slices in a container. Mix together all the marinade ingredients and pour over the meat . Marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Make the dipping sauce (optional). Mix together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, chili flakes, garlic, and green onions in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Batter the meat. Pour the flour onto a plate. Beat the eggs and place in a large bowl. Working with one slice at a time, dip the meat slice into the flour first (shake off any excess flour). Then dip into the egg.
  • Panfry the meat. Make sure there's about 1/2-inch of oil in your pan. Over medium-high heat, fry each side for 1-2 minutes. Once finished, remove to a plate lined with paper towels (to soak up oil).
