PIZZA BUNS

These are nice to serve for a snack. My Mom used to serve them for her Bridge Group. I have served them with a bowl of soup for supper. If you like pizza, I think you will like these. This mixture can be kept in the fridge for several days and spread on buns when you are ready to use.

Pizza Buns image

Steps:

  • Slice bacon into small pieces and then brown it.
  • Drain fat from bacon.
  • Cut the pepperoni into slices and then quarter the slices.
  • Add onion, green pepper, and mushrooms to the bacon and heat until onions begin to soften. Stir often.
  • Add spaghetti sauce, pepperoni, oregano and garlic powder and heat through.
  • Cool.
  • Stir in cheese.
  • Spread on open-faced buns and broil until bubbly and cheese melted.
  • Enjoy!

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink, 3-5 minutes, breaking into crumbles. Drain. Stir in the pizza sauce, mushrooms, sugar and oregano; mix well. Spoon onto buns; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. , Place on ungreased baking sheets. Broil 4 in. from the heat until cheese is melted, 2 minutes. , To freeze for quick lunches later, place the split and toasted buns on a baking sheet. Spoon the meat mixture onto buns; freeze for 1 hour. Transfer to freezer-safe airtight containers., To use frozen burgers: Thaw completely in the refrigerator. Sprinkle with cheese. Broil 4 in. from the heat until heated through and cheese is melted, 2 minutes.

  • Butter bread on both sides. On a greased griddle, toast bread on 1 side until lightly browned. Turn; spoon about 1/4 cup chili on each slice. Sprinkle with garlic salt. , Top each with 2 tablespoons pizza sauce and about 2 tablespoons cheese. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Cook until bottom is golden brown and cheese is melted.

Easy Open-Faced Pizza Sandwich image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Brown ground beef in a frying pan, drain grease.
  • While beef is browning, slice italian bread into thick slices (about 3/4 inch thick). Each slice will be one sandwich.
  • Once beef is browned add 8-10oz can of PLAIN tomato sauce to frying pan. Simmer. Can add salt and pepper to taste.
  • While beef and sauce is simmering, toast slices of bread in oven for approx 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove toasted bread from oven and spread with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of beef mixture. Top with 1-11/2 slices american cheese.
  • Place back in oven for 5-10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  • Remove from oven and enjoy with your favorite salad!

  • In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in pizza sauce, olives, basil and oregano. Cook for 10 minutes or until heated through. , Cut 1/4 in. off the top of each roll; set aside. Carefully hollow out bottom of roll, leaving a 1/4-in. shell (discard removed bread or save for another use). Sprinkle 2 tablespoons cheese inside each shell. Fill each with about 1/2 cup meat mixture. Sprinkle with remaining cheese, gently pressing down to flatten. Replace bread tops. , Individually wrap four sandwiches tightly in foil; freeze for up to 3 months. Place remaining sandwiches on a baking sheet. Spicy Vegetable Hoagie image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Line a baking sheet with foil.
  • Spray baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Place hoagie roll in center of foil (12x12 for one hoagie). Bring up sides of foil around hoagie. This will retain the hoagie's shape while baking.
  • Layer vegetables in roll however you like.
  • Break up the two slices of cheese and top off the sandwich with the cheese and Italian seasoning.
  • Bake for 15-20 min (or however long you like) and enjoy.

1 hoagie roll
1/4 cup diced tomato
1/4 cup diced mushroom
1/4 cup sliced black olives
1/4 cup sliced jalapeno (or pepper of your choice. If you use bell pepper, it should be diced or minced)

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
