Steps:

  • In a heavy skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add the potatoes; cover and cook for 6 minutes or until browned and crisp-tender, stirring occasionally., Add bratwurst, onion and green pepper. Cook and stir for 5 minutes or until meat is heated through and vegetables are crisp-tender., Combine the soy sauce, orange juice, basil, salt and pepper; add to the skillet. Cook and stir 1-2 minutes longer or until meat and vegetables are evenly coated.

Steps:

  • In a skillet, bring potatoes and broth to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Add bratwurst, apples, onion and salt; cook for 5-10 minutes or until potatoes are tender and broth has evaporated., Push bratwurst mixture to the sides of pan. Place sugar in the center of pan; cook until sugar is melted and golden brown. Add butter; cook and stir until butter is melted. Toss with the bratwurst mixture; serve immediately.

Steps:

  • Place potatoes in a large saucepan and cover with water; cover and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until tender; drain. Cool slightly; cut into cubes and keep warm., In a large skillet, saute sausage and onion in oil until lightly browned; drain. Stir in the wine, thyme and marjoram. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes.   • Pierce the potatoes in a few places with a fork; microwave until slightly softened, about 4 minutes, then halve lengthwise. When cool enough to handle, grate the cut sides on the large holes of a box grater into a large bowl.
  • Add the sauerkraut to the grated potatoes along with the herbs, eggs, three-quarters of the scallions, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper to taste. Stir in 1 tablespoon flour, then form into four 1/2-inch-thick patties. Sprinkle the patties with the remaining 1 tablespoon flour.
  • Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Pierce the bratwurst all over with a fork, add to the pan and cook, turning, until golden brown, 5 minutes per side. Meanwhile, heat 1/3 inch olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the potato patties and cook until golden, 6 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Bratwurst With Sauerkraut and Potatoes image

Steps:

  • Simmer the sauerkraut for 10 minutes in boiling salted water. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, in a large skillet, soften the onions in the butter, browning lightly. Add the sauerkraut, wine, stock, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Bring to boil, turn down, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, simmer the bratwurst in water to cover for 20 minutes.
