SARAH'S SWEDISH APPLE PIE

I am not a pie crust person so Sarah suggested this great pie with the crust on top and not a traditional pie crust flavor. It was way yummy and quick to make.

Steps:

  • Place the peeled and chopped apples in the bottom of a standard pie plate. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top.
  • In a small bowl mix topping ingredients and pat down on top of the apples.
  • Bake at 350 for 45 min or until lightly brown.

4 -5 small apples, cored, peeled, sliced
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 cup melted butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 egg
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Cover, and cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until apples are soft. Allow to cool, then mash with a fork or potato masher.

  • Pack 6-7 quart jars with apples, tightly.
  • Mix the first 5 ingredients. Add water and lemon juice.
  • Cook until it thickens and clears. Pour over apples, leaving an inch of head space.
  • Process in water bath canner for 35 minutes.
