Shrimp with Gin Recipe - (4.4/5) image

Steps:

  • Have ALL the ingredients ready. This dish MUST be done very quickly and over very high heat. Do not peel the shrimp. Heat the wok or frying pan until very hot. Add the oil, salt, and garlic ALL at once. Throw in the shrimp, and chow it for a moment. Add the ginger and the green onions, still at high heat. Toss for a moment until the shrimp changes color from a gray to a bright orange-pink. When the shrimp are cooked to your taste, and this should only take a moment, throw the soy sauce and the gin into the pan all at once. It should make a great sizzling sound. Put a lid on the pan immediately, and turn off the heat. Serve while hot. Each guest may peel his own shrimp. but many of us eat the shell and all (not me! lol but the dish is THAT good).

1/2 lb. shrimp in shells
1 tbsp. olive oil
2 tsp. salt
3 cloves garlic, sliced
1 tsp. fresh grated ginger
2 tbsp. grated onion
1 tbsp. soy sauce
2 tbsp. gin

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil and red pepper flakes in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, ginger and honey; cook and stir until fragrant. Add the shrimp, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring as needed, until shrimp are pink and opaque. Serve immediately.

Honey-Ginger Shrimp and Vegetables image

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat until it begins to smoke. Stir in garlic, onion, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Quickly cook until the onion softens and just begins to brown. Stir in bell pepper, zucchini, and mushrooms; continue cooking until the zucchini softens, about 4 minutes.
  • Stir cornstarch into honey until smooth, then add to vegetables, and simmer until thickened, about 2 minutes. Add shrimp, and cook until they turn pink, about 3 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
