MAGIC BROWNIE BARS

When I was a kid, one of my all-time favorite treats was magic cookie bars. This recipe combines all the same classic flavors in a magic brownie bar! —Mandy Rivers, Lexington, South Carolina

Magic Brownie Bars image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 13x9-in. baking pan with foil, letting ends extend up sides; grease foil. , Prepare brownie mix batter according to package directions. Transfer to prepared pan. Top with butterscotch chips, coconut and, if desired, pecans. Drizzle with milk. Bake until topping is light golden, 35-40 minutes., Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Lifting with foil, remove brownies from pan. Cut into bars. Store in an airtight container.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Melt butter or margarine, and then stir in cocoa.
  • Add in sugar and eggs to the mixing bowl and stir together.
  • Add in vanilla, flour, nuts and salt and beat together well.
  • Spoon batter into the prepared pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until cooked through.
  • Mix the frosting ingredients together and spread over the hot brownies and serve.
  • You can also let the brownies cool and then frost. This way the frosting is thicker.

1 cup unsalted butter (or margarine - our grandma liked to do 1/2 cup of each)
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cup flour

1 pound powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter (softened)
3 Tablespoons cocoa powder
1/4 cup hot water
1 teaspoon vanilla

Absolutely a great nutty tasting bars. Somewhat rich, but oh, so good. This recipe was given to me by a famous Chef in Palm Springs, CA. One must try it to really enjoy.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Melt butter in a 9" x 13" oven-proof casserole dish.
  • Sprinkle graham wafer crumbs on bottom and half way up sides of dish.
  • Sprinkle coconut evenly over crumbs.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over coconut.
  • Sprinkle butterscotch chips evenly over chocolate.
  • Pour sweetened condensed milk over the top and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts over top.
  • Bake in preheated 350 F oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
  • Cool and chill before cutting.
  • Cut into 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" bars or as desired.

Traditional Brownie Goody Bars image

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray or shortening. (For easier cutting, line pan with foil, then grease foil on bottom only of pan.)
  • Make and bake brownies as directed on box. Cool completely.
  • Frost brownies with frosting. Sprinkle with peanuts; refrigerate while making cereal mixture.
  • Measure cereal into large bowl; set aside. In 1-quart saucepan, melt peanut butter and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly. Pour over cereal in bowl, stirring until evenly coated. Spread over frosted brownies. Refrigerate 1 hour or until set before cutting. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store tightly covered at room temperature or in refrigerator.
