SKILLET BEEF STROGANOFF

I don't recall where I got this skillet beef stroganoff recipe, but I've been making it for 40 years. The recipe card is covered with food stains as a result of so much use. I like the addition of horseradish, which gives the stroganoff that extra zing. -Aljene Wendling, Seattle, Washington

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, saute mushrooms and onion in butter until tender. With a slotted spoon, transfer to a large bowl; stir in the water, horseradish, salt and pepper. Set aside. , Place flour in a large resealable plastic bag. Add beef, a few pieces at a time. Seal bag; shake to coat. , In the same skillet, brown beef in batches. Return all of the beef to the pan; top with mushroom mixture. , Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours or until beef is tender, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; stir in sour cream. Serve with noodles. Freeze option: Before adding sour cream, freeze cooled beef in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat through in a saucepan, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low. Stir in sour cream; heat through.

One Skillet Ground Beef Stroganoff Recipe by Tasty image

Steps:

  • Add olive to a large pan over medium heat. Once the oil begins to shimmer, add the mushrooms and cook until tender, 5 to 6 minutes. Transfer the mushrooms to a plate.
  • In the same pan, add the butter. Add the onion, ground beef, and garlic powder. Stir until the meat is browned, breaking it up as you stir.
  • Drain any excess fat and return the pan to the stove.
  • Add the flour and paprika. Stir until thick, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Add the sherry, and stir, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan.
  • Add the beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Add the egg noodles, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat to simmer. Cover the pan with a lid.
  • Stir often, until the noodles are tender, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Return the mushrooms to the pan and stir to combine.
  • Add the sour cream and stir. Top with chopped parsley.
  • Enjoy!

Steps:

  • Season the beef with the salt, pepper, and Essence.
  • In a large cast iron skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the seasoned beef and cook, stirring, until well browned and all pink has disappeared. Drain off any excess oil in the skillet.
  • Add the onions and cook, stirring, until soft, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the mushrooms and garlic and cook, stirring until the mushrooms have released their juices, about 2 minutes. Add the macaroni (or egg noodles), beef broth and sour cream. Cook, stirring, until the mixture thickens slightly, 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and spoon the mixture onto 2 large plates. Sprinkle each portion with the cheese, if desired, and chopped parsley and serve immediately.
  • Combine all ingredients thoroughly.

Steps:

  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef, season with salt and pepper and cook, breaking the beef into small pieces with a wooden spoon, until well browned, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl, leaving behind any drippings, and reduce the heat to medium.
  • To the same skillet, add the mushrooms, season with salt and cook until golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer the cooked mushrooms to the bowl with the beef. Add the oil, paprika, garlic, carrot and onion to the skillet and cook until the carrots are soft and the onion is lightly browned, about 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the tomato paste and cook until the tomato paste has toasted and is evenly coating the vegetables, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the broth, Worcestershire and 1 1/2 cups of water to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and stir in the pasta. Cover and cook according to package directions until just al dente. Uncover, stir in the reserved beef and mushrooms and cook until heated through. Remove from the heat and stir in the cream cheese, sour cream, chives and parsley until the cream cheese melts and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper. Serve warm.

  • 1. Pat beef dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in large skillet over medium-high heat until just smoking. Cook half of beef until well browned, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer to medium bowl and repeat with 1 tablespoon more oil and remaining beef.
  • 2. Heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil in now-empty skillet until shimmering. Cook mushrooms, onion, and 1/2 teaspoon salt until liquid from mushrooms has evaporated, about 8 minutes. (If pan becomes too brown, pour accumulated beef juices into skillet.) Stir in flour and cook for 30 seconds. Gradually stir in broths, then brandy, and return beef and accumulated juices to pan.
